Basement Clean Up day! We wanted to move our children's Sunday School from the parsonage to the main church, so we decided to clean up the basement to make room. This way the kids can have Sunday School in the same place as the adults, and we can also save money on heating the parsonage, which otherwise is not used on Sunday. And, we thought, wouldn't it be nice if we had a place for dinners, meetings and whatever else we could think of? But the basement hasn't been used in years. So there was a lot to do. So on August 24th, we brought our mops and buckets and..... Here's a before. That's with the lights ON. Almost half the lights were out. So first we had to get new tubes and install them, just so we could see the dirt and the oh-so-many spider webs.
Here's the kitchen before. Also dark. And the counter was kinda grayish. Not something you'd even think about using! Notice the paneling on the far wall. There's some sort of chalk like stuff on it. In fact, it was on most of the walls.
Margaret sweeping. The poor woman used that broom for two hours straight. Yeah, that's how much there was to clean. But what a difference it made!
Now look the basement! Clean. Bright. A place to watch videos. A craft area. And tables for meals! We still want to repaint the walls, but even before we do, we have a nice room for all kinds of things!
Did someone say meal? Gray counters are gone and disinfected. We're ready to serve!
Two and a half hours. That's all it took. But what a difference!
